Magnesium stearate, also known as Octadecanoic acid magnesium salt, Stearic acid magnesium salt and Magnesium distearate, is used in pharmaceutical manufacture as a lubricant, especially as a coating for pills to make them more easily removed from their molds and to keep them from sticking together in humid environments. It is also sometimes used as a food additive, for its anti-caking and emulsifying properties.

Please check our ingredients index page for a complete listing of all our other soap and cosmetic ingredients.
