Bitter Almond Nature Identical essential oil Benzaldehyde. Nature identical refers to an oil which has had a component added, either natural or artificial, with a chemical structure identical to that found in nature. True bitter almond oil is obtained by steam distillation of the kernels of prunus dulcis, this produces and oil which contains 'Prussic acid' a strong poison. Almost all bitter almond essential oil marketed today is Nature Identical.
